After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Chelsea owner and Putin ally Roman Abramovich must fear consequences.

Chelsea’s Russian owner Roman Abramovich may never live in the UK again. That reports the English Sun.

The 55-year-old billionaire took up Israeli citizenship in 2018, which would theoretically allow him to stay in the UK for six months. However, Abramovich withdrew a corresponding request in the course of the alleged nerve gas attack on Sergei Skripal in Salisbury and subsequent criticism of Russian oligarchs.

Chelsea FC: Roman Abramovich has not attended a game for months

Loud Sun the immigration authorities should now have been instructed not to grant a possible renewed application by Abramovich. This would mean that he would never be allowed to live in Britain again. “Any attempt on his part will be rejected with a high probability,” quoted the Sun an insider. Abramovich is said to be close to Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, whose troops invaded Ukraine on Thursday.

Abramovich owns a £152million estate near Kensington Palace in London. His total wealth is estimated at £8.4 billion. He has owned Chelsea since 2003, with whom he won the Champions League in 2012 and 2021. Abramovich has not attended his club’s game for months.

Boris Johnson: Chelsea owner Abramovich ‘not a target of action’

On Wednesday there were rumors that the assets of Abramovich and two other Russian oligarchs and five banks are to be frozen in England. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Abramovich was “not a target for action”.

Senior Labor MP Dame Margaret Hodge, meanwhile, described Abramovich and former Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov, 68, as “kleptocrats who stole from the Russian people”.
