Chelsea: Brighton coach Potter favorite to succeed Tuchel

Blues want a quick fix

After the surprising dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea are pushing for a quick succession plan for the vacant position of head coach. As “The Athletic”the “BBC” and Fabrizio Romano unanimously report the Blues are in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Graham Potter on Wednesday about a deal.

The “Seagulls” have reportedly given their clearance for official negotiations after Chelsea signaled their willingness to pull the release clause in the 47-year-old Englishman’s contract, which runs until 2025. Even the courted Potter himself is said to have given his consent for those talks.

Update 7:21 p.m.: According to the “independent” the possible transfer fee for Potter could be around £16 million, the equivalent of around EUR 18.6 million. This would make him the second most expensive coach in the world after Julian Nagelsmann.

An alternative solution is Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently without a club after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain – the Argentine is said to be able to imagine the Chelsea job as well. The “Telegraph” had brought other names into play with ex-Real coach Zinédine Zidane and Benfica Lisbon’s Roger Schmidt.
