Comedian Otto Waalkes scored a real hit with the reinterpretation of his song “Friesenjung” from the 90s. In a conversation he reveals how happy he is about it.

comedian Looking back on the year that is coming to an end, Otto Waalkes (75) is grateful and happy – especially about his first number one hit “Friesenjung”. “When you’ve been in show business for so long and things like this happen, you’re just happy that you’re having a climax again,” Waalkes told the German Press Agency.

He doesn’t have an explanation as to why the new interpretation of his song from the 90s has been so well received in recent months. “I don’t even want to think about it. I just enjoy it that way. Anything else would be too speculative.”

In the spring, Waalkes gave the Dutchman Joost and the Berlin rapper Ski Aggu permission to re-record his song in a dance version. Ski Aggu explains its success primarily through the popularity of the comedian legend.

“Everyone knows him and everyone likes him. He’s just super funny and very likeable. And then the song just catches your ear. I contributed the least to the song,” the musician with the ski goggles explained to the dpa.
