Chart success for the indie rock band Kaffkiez – Bayern

The musicians of Kaffkiez are in “ecstasy” – and the musicians from Rosenheim even took a trip to Germany in a sprinter last week: Marburg, Jena, Bamberg, Augsburg, Wiesbaden, Chemnitz. Small acoustic concerts in clubs, some no larger than 40 square meters. The performances were always announced the evening before, but hundreds of fans still came, some of whom had to be sent home because the stages were simply too small for such a crowd. As a consolation, Johannes Eisner and Johannes Gottwald, who were only traveling as a couple, had crates full of free beer with them – and there were also spontaneous appearances in front of the queue.

It was a “wild ride,” says band manager Jo Halbig, once the singer of the Killer Pilze. This promo tour was definitely worth it. “Ekstase”, the new album by Kaffkiez, landed at number three in the German charts – behind the live albums by Helene Fischer and the Böesen Onkelz. “If someone had told us that just a few months ago, we would have called them crazy,” says singer Johannes Eisner. “Not even four years ago we stood in front of 15 people in village pubs – and now we’re number 3 in the charts.”
