There is a ring for sale at “Bares for Rares”. The owner wants 20,000 euros – the expert is not shocked, Horst Lichter is.

It’s a piece with a special story: Anna Najmi from Hamburg comes to “Bares für Rares” with a friend’s diamond ring. “She got it as a gift from her boyfriend, an American soldier, in the 1960s,” says the 60-year-old on Horst Lichter’s ZDF junk show. When the relationship broke up, she bought the ring from her – “for a small donation,” as Najmi says herself. A profitable business. Because today the ring is worth a small fortune.

“The stone is impressively large,” confirms “Bares for Rares” expert Wendela Horz. She calculates the size of the diamond to be a whopping three carats. The quality is also very good. The cut is worth reducing, but the overall impression is excellent. The ring rail itself is “very solid” and weighs 25 grams. Goldsmith work that was subsequently made for the ring. “So it’s unique,” as Horz emphasizes.

“Bares for Rares” expert calculates

Owner Najmi has a very clear idea of what she wants for her ring: “That would indeed be 20,000 euros.” A mega sum that makes moderator Horst Lichter ponder. But expert Horz breaks down the value of the ring factually. The material value of the gold is around 900 euros. Only the big diamond causes the price to skyrocket. “I’m here at 14,000 euros.”

However, the estimate does not trigger any jubilation from Najmi. She is already making cuts from the 20,000 euros. “But I’m not going to sell it for 14,000 euros,” says the Hamburg resident. Moderator Horst Lichter therefore refused her the dealer card. “Don’t be angry with me, but then someone else will come who wants the ring,” he says – a charming sacking. Najmi has to take the ring home again. Still, she’s not angry: “There will be other ways to sell it.”
