“Chancellor photographer”: Konrad R. Müller is dead – culture

The “Chancellor photographer” Konrad R. Müller is dead. Friends of the photographer, who had photographed all heads of government since Konrad Adenauer up to Olaf Scholz for sometimes elaborate productions, confirmed to the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Sunday morning that Müller, born in 1940, was 83 years and after a long illness died on Saturday in his home town of Königswinter.

Until recently, Müller’s analogue black-and-white images of Chancellors Willy Brandt and Helmut Kohl, whom he often accompanied, were considered to be style-forming. Exactly a year ago, the SZ reported exclusively on Müller’s last major work, a photo session with Olaf Scholz in the Berlin Chancellery. (obituary follows)
