Too much criticism: Füllkrug “dislikes” BVB’s perception

At the press conference before the Champions League game against AC Milan, Niclas Füllkrug stands in front of his team. The public assessment of BVB’s performance is too negative for the national player.
From the perspective of a national player Niclas Füllkrug is too critical of Borussia Dortmund’s recent performances. “In terms of play, it can’t be that bad,” said the 30-year-old. “We’ve collected a lot of points. We’re unbeaten this season. We had a really strong second half of the season last season. I don’t like the way the whole thing is perceived.”
BVB has not lost in the Bundesliga since April 1st and is level on points with FC Bayern Munich in fourth place. Nevertheless, the playful performances in some encounters in the surrounding area are viewed negatively.
According to Füllkrug, who moved from Werder Bremen to Dortmund this summer, BVB “developed in a direction that was often criticized, where BVB was often not strong enough: to be mentally strong, to finish the games “To decide the games even in moments when it might be difficult.” As an example, he cited last Friday’s 3-1 win at TSG Hoffenheim, in which the Revierclub played outnumbered at times. “At the moment we have a mental strength and a will to win that is visible, that is extreme,” said Füllkrug.
Dortmund wants to show this will to win again this Wednesday in the Champions League game against AC Milan. If Füllkrug plays as expected, it would be his home debut for Dortmund in the premier class. BVB lost their first group game 2-0 at Paris Saint-Germain.
