In the premier class, RB Leipzig has to face Manchester City on Tuesday. After the bitter 1:2 against Wolfsburg, RB now wants to make amends. But can this be achieved against the seemingly overwhelming “Citizens”?
Leipzig’s Christoph Baumgartner (24) said after the Wolfsburg defeat: “We were the dominant team for over 90 minutes and had more of the game. But in the final third we weren’t strong enough against the opponent. We had a lot of half-chances, but there were no big opportunities. […] It is an extremely bitter defeat. We really wanted to take the three points. But things are moving on quickly and we want to bounce back quickly.”
In order to keep up in Manchester, RB cannot afford any mistakes. The “Skyblues” will demand everything from the people of Leipzig.
33rd minute: Tooor for RB Leipzig, 0-2 by Loïs Openda
31st minute
Insecurity from Blaswich! The RB keeper makes a mistake with a short pass in his own five-yard line and almost lays the ball out for Haaland at the right post. If the Norwegian is one second faster, the score is 1:1.
30th minute
Now City is coming through! And with a single action: Lewis puts the ball forward despite a bad reception and slams the ball over the crossbar on the right after a wobble against Klostermann.
28th minute
The longer break doesn’t help City either. The home side are not yet in their rhythm and allow themselves too many simple and unusual bad passes, especially in the final third.
27th minute
Doku would be Grealish’s replacement at City and is warming up outside as a precaution.
25th minute
Does Grealish have to go down? The Englishman runs into Haïdara during a running duel and then remains on the ground, slightly dazed. After a long break due to injury, Greaslih wants to continue playing.
25th minute
City’s offensive isn’t running yet! Grealish gets stuck in the center and falls to the ground after a running duel with Haïdara. The Englishman then had to briefly receive treatment on his head, but was able to continue.
23rd minute
Grealish dribbles at speed on the left wing and invites Bernardo Silva to him for a one-two, who tries a lob. The play is well thought out, but ends with a bad pass.
21st minute: Yellow card for Rúben Dias (Manchester City)
Rúben Dias wants to stop Leipzig from switching gears and hits Openda in the head with a high leg. Clear yellow for the Portuguese.
