Leroy Sané is about to make his 50th appearance in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen. Bayern colleague Joshua Kimmich praises the offensive player’s consistently strong performances.

The national soccer player who appeared so inconsistently in earlier years Leroy Sané has also amazed his colleagues at FC Bayern with his consistently good performances in the first phase of this season. Joshua Kimmich praised the Munich winger before his 50th Champions League game in the evening at FC Copenhagen.

“At the moment it’s impressive how consistently Leroy brings his performances on the pitch. He’s one of our best players every three days. He decides the games,” said 28-year-old Kimmich in Denmark. “He has already scored one or two wins for us.”

In absolute top shape

Sané actually seems to be in the form of his life. In the Bundesliga he scored five goals in the first six matchdays. And he was also one of Munich’s goalscorers in the 4-3 win at the premier league opener against Manchester United. Together with new signing Harry Kane, Sané is currently the top player in the record champions’ offensive.

“I try to have a good rhythm,” Sané recently said about his high. He also scored in the first international matches of the European Championship season against Japan (1:4) and France (2:1). “It’s extraordinarily difficult to stop him the way he is now,” noted Kimmich: “You can tell that he’s showing a joy in playing at the moment that’s contagious. I hope it lasts for a long time.”

Kimmich couldn’t name a specific reason why things are going so well for Sané this season. “I believe that he has always put in the effort. Leroy is a player who is physically very strong, who is always fit, who plays every three days. He has shown what he can do in the past and at times get on the pitch.”
