Champions League: Dortmund is outnumbered – sport

Borussia Dortmund also lost the second leg against Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League. After an early red card against Mats Hummels, BVB conceded two goals and had to admit defeat 1: 3. RB Leipzig can no longer qualify for the round of 16 after a 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain.

BVB started with a double chance, but Thorgan Hazard and Jude Bellingham gave away the possible lead. In the 29th minute, Mats Hummels saw the red card: a wrong decision. Hummels’ tackle clearly missed the opponent, but the video assistant did not correct the judgment either. Outnumbered, Borussia were awarded a penalty eight minutes later after a foul on Bellingham. Marco Reus converted just past the fingertips of Ajax goalkeeper Remo Pasveer to the lead.

In the second half, BVB limited themselves to defending when they were outnumbered. It was only in the 71st minute that Dusan Tadic jumped into a cross that was unlucky from Marin Pongracic and equalized. Sebastian Haller headed 2-1 against a tired Dortmund team, Davy Klaassen made the final score in stoppage time.

Leipzig says goodbye

RB Leipzig initially built on the strong performance of the first leg in Paris and took the lead in the 8th minute when Christopher Nkunku headed a cross from André Silva into the goal. Shortly afterwards, Silva could have increased with a penalty – but Gianluigi Donnarumma fended off the poorly shot attempt. As a result, PSG, which competed in Saxony without Lionel Messi but with Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, became stronger. Georginio Wijnaldum scored a brace (21st and 39th minutes). Only in stoppage time did Dominik Szoboszlai equalize with a penalty.
