The path to most Bundesliga away games is further. BVB travels to the first leg of the round of 16 in Eindhoven by bus. Two recently injured professionals are also there.

Borussia Dortmund can play in the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League on Tuesday (9 p.m./Amazon Prime Video) at PSV Eindhoven will probably plan again with Donyell Malen.

The former PSV professional seems to have overcome his knee problems and started the 170-kilometer bus journey to his home country of the Netherlands on Monday morning with his teammates.

Malen was also in the squad for the 1-1 draw in Wolfsburg last Saturday, but was rested. In addition, full-back Ramy Bensebaini is also back fit after recovering from illness. Karim Adeyemi is not yet an option for the game in Eindhoven.

Favorite role for Dortmund

As winners of the difficult group with Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Newcastle United, BVB is considered the favorite and has the advantage of being able to play the first duel against the sovereign leaders of the Dutch Eredivisie. In the Philips Stadium, which has a capacity of around 35,000 spectators, the fourth-place team in the Bundesliga wants to create a good starting position for the second leg on March 13th in Dortmund.

“We know that Eindhoven is a very strong team. If you don’t perform in these two games, then you’re out. We need full commitment, full focus,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl. Defender Nico Schlotterbeck sees it similarly: “If we put our performance on the pitch, we will beat Eindhoven.”
