Chamber of Wonders: The exhibition “:eldorado” by Chaya Nouriani in Munich – Munich

The Munich artist Chaya Nouriani is reminiscent of the heyday of the Chambers of Wonder with her often whimsical objects and installations. Just as princes and private collectors once presented strange and foreign things from other cultures alongside rare and valuable things in their treasuries, Nouriani arranges found and forgotten, old and new, everyday objects and artistically created objects as objects under a glass dome or stages them as installations in rooms. The wild skull becomes an objet trouvé and the glass ball looks like a ready-made. Not all of it is to be taken seriously, much of it is playful and humorous – and yet Chaya Nouriani likes to leave room for subtle and ambiguous things that need to be discovered and deciphered by the viewer. You have the opportunity to do so until January 20th in the municipal picture room of the Artothek, where the artist, who was born in Münster in 1968, is currently exhibiting under the title “:eldorado”.

Chaya Nouriani, :eldorado, Artothek & Bildersaal, Rosental 16, until January 20th
