Ceta is the basis for further commercial contracts – opinion

The road was long and rocky. It has been more than 13 years since negotiations for Ceta, the EU’s free trade agreement with Canada, began. Distrust was a loyal companion in those years, especially in Germany – and many of these doubts were justified. But if the German Bundestag ratifies the agreement this Thursday, then it can do so with a clear conscience. Ceta has become a good agreement, precisely because of the resistance in recent years. It should encourage Europeans to conclude more such treaties.
