Cem Özdemir softens eco-rules: How do the Greens react?

With Greens like Cem Özdemir in government, the environmental movement is also hoping that something will happen in nature conservation. Only the opposite seems to be the case: one compromise follows the next. How long will this be good?

Cem Özdemir knows that he is disappointing some expectations when he announces that the new ecological regulation on agricultural land will be postponed for another year. Maybe he’s even a little disappointed himself. At least he explains: “What I am presenting is a compromise that also hurts in one place or another.” Yet again.

Green is the color of hope. Not symbolic, but quite real – at least for some. As soon as the Greens get into government, the environmental groups hope for change. And if the Greens disappoint this hope, then the criticism can be very loud.
