No connection under any number – a massive disruption in Telekom’s LTE network has affected many customers nationwide. Now the problem is fixed.

Deutsche Telekom has fixed the software error that led to massive impairments in the group’s mobile network on Tuesday. “Mobile telephony via LTE is working again,” the company announced on Twitter.

At the same time, the group apologized to its customers: “Today we did not live up to our own standards. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The reason for the failure was an error in the “Voice-over-LTE” function. With this standard, the voice connection is established via the LTE (4G) radio standard. Depending on the smartphone model, customers were affected differently by the breakdown.

The iPhone operating system iOS automatically switches back to the 2G standard GSM in the event of problems. Users of smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola and others that use the Google Android system, on the other hand, must manually deactivate “Voice-over-LTE”. Telekom provided instructions for various mobile phones for this purpose.
