A five-year-old boy was run over by a tar roller in Celle on Monday afternoon and was fatally injured. The construction vehicle was used for asphalt work and drove backwards.
As reported by the Celle police, the child was traveling with his father and his seven-year-old brother. While the brothers rode bicycles, the father jogged behind his children. They wanted to cross a road whose road surface is currently being renewed. The construction site area was cordoned off.
The cause of the accident in Celle is not yet clear
According to the police, when the older boy had already crossed the street, the five-year-old was run over by a reversing construction roller. He died at the scene of the accident.
It is not yet clear how this accident could have happened. The boy’s family and the 57-year-old roller driver are receiving pastoral care.
