Cédric Pioline succeeds Guy Forget at the head of the tournament

The position had been vacant since December 7 and the resignation of Guy Forget, quoted in the Pandora Papers. Do not send any more applications, it is now filled. Cédric Pioline was named the new director of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 on Wednesday.

At 52, the former world No. 5 takes office for the next three editions of the Rolex Paris Masters, his official name, as the French Tennis Federation (FFT) said in a press release on Wednesday.

Pioline already knows the house

The former double Davis Cup winner had already been co-director of the tournament from 2003 to 2009, after his retirement as a player. Responsible for the men’s high level at the FFT from 2007 to 2009, Pioline became deputy captain of the French Davis Cup team from 2016 to 2018, alongside Yannick Noah.

While Forget combined the positions of director of Roland-Garros and Paris-Bercy, these are now separated: Amélie Mauresmo had been chosen on December 9 to take the lead in the French Grand Slam tournament.
