Cathy Hummels shows herself on her Instagram channel without a bra and wants to encourage other women to do the same.
“I’m working on something very special. Something I’ve been wanting to do for a few years. A retreat for body and soul for women,” with these words the moderator and influencer Cathy Hummels begins a post on Instagram, along with a photo of her. At first everything seems harmless.
Her new post is being celebrated for another reason. Because under her advertising message she posts a personal statement: “I don’t like bras. I am a woman and I am proud. (Only in sports)” points out. The pride she describes can be seen in this photo – and her followers celebrate it too.

Her followers on Instagram appreciate her post with all sorts of comments, approval and so far over 10,000 likes.
She obviously doesn’t want to lose her pride in herself and her body. From her point of view, so-called body shaming – i.e. the attempt to spoil the pride and joy in one’s own body – is still widespread. “I don’t think anything has improved, otherwise we wouldn’t be fighting for such body positivity,” she said recently in an interview with the German Press Agency (dpa) in Munich.
She recently teamed up with fitness influencer Sophia Thiel to draw attention to the topic. Women in particular still have to justify their bodies. “My mission is that you stop letting others define you and that others tell you what is normal and what is not normal,” emphasized Hummels, who is repeatedly confronted with critical comments that she is too thin.
“I think a lot of people are just not satisfied. And then you try to distract yourself and point the finger at others,” said Hummels. “But there are different shapes, there are different sizes and as long as you are healthy and well, everything is allowed.”
