How safe are Germany’s roads? One number speaks volumes. According to the Federal Statistical Office, more than 2,700 people died in road traffic last year. That was 300 less than in 2019. However, the number only decreased significantly because traffic also shrank sharply in the year of the Corona outbreak. The federal government is still miles away from its great goal of bringing the number of victims as close as possible to zero with its “Vision Zero”.
