The saleswoman would have been happy with just a few hundred euros for her brooch at “Cash for Rares”. When she hears the expertise, she has to take a quick breather.

Anke Vahl inherited a beautiful old brooch. Since the 61-year-old office worker from Pegnitz doesn’t want to wear it herself, she would like to have the item “Cash for Rares”. The first fan of the piece of jewelry is already waiting in the expert room: “This is a fantastic stone. “I’m completely thrilled,” enthuses Heide Rezepa-Zabel. “A huge, natural aquamarine in a natural color.” In contrast to other aquamarines, this one was not fired, but blue without any processing.

The expert also approves of the workmanship of the brooch. The stamp on the white gold setting refers to the Soviet Union, says Rezepa-Zabel, who recognizes a reference to Leningrad alongside Cyrillic characters. The brooch must have been created in the 1930s.

“Cash for Rares”: Horst Lichter laughs with joy

The stone itself is 32 carats. “If that were a diamond, you would never have to work again,” says Lichter. And so the saleswoman is holding back on her desired price: she would like 300 to 400 euros. But she did her calculations without the expert: Rezepa-Zabel estimates the value of the brooch at 2,500 to 3,000 euros. Anke Vahl has to take a quick breather. Horst Lichter bursts into laughter: “Do you know what I think is beautiful?” he asks Rezepa-Zabel. “When suddenly your voice changes, you gasp for air and your whole thinking starts again.”

The dealers are also enthusiastic about the beautiful aquamarine. Lisa Nüdling immediately takes it into her expert hands and praises the piece. Sarah Schreiber finds him “incredibly beautiful”. Julian Schmitz-Avila starts with 1000 euros. Nüdling and Schreiber are also offering. The latter submits the highest bid of 2000 euros. This means that the estimated value is missed, but the seller receives a multiple of her desired price. Anke Vahl is correspondingly satisfied afterwards.
