A Fanta billboard was for sale at “Cash for Rares”. Expert Sven Deutschmanek was initially particularly interested in where the seller lived.

“It’s really old and it was firmly attached,” says Horst Lichter when he saw the sign in the expert room of “Cash for Rares”. It is an old Fanta advertisement from the 1960s. However, Sven Deutschmanek points out in advance that the material is lacquer and not enamel. What interests him more than the sign, however, is the origin of the owner: Tanja Preißer is coming from Cuxhaven. “I’m there at least three times a year,” enthuses the expert, and specifies: “In Duhnen.” And that hits the mark: “I live there,” the 43-year-old train driver replies happily. “You know each other ?”, Lichter now joins the conversation. “If I disturb you, I’ll leave.”

But the moderator is allowed to stay, so he finds out that the sign he brought with him was hanging on a restaurant that has now closed. Now it wants to sell Preisser.

“Cash for Rares”: The story of Fanta

Sven Deutschmanek first tells the story of Fanta. The soda has only been around in its current form since 1964. The drink was developed in 1940, the reason being a shortage of raw materials at the Coca Cola company in Germany. The name was derived from the word “fantasy”. However, the Fanta of that time has little in common with the one we know today: the main ingredient was whey, plus apple leftovers and fruit juice concentrate.

The seller would like 100 euros for the old sign. Deutschmanek estimates the value at 100 to 150 euros.

The billboard attracts great interest in the dealers’ room. Wolfgang Pauritsch starts the auction with 50 euros, but Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz wins the auction for 100 euros. The desired price has been reached – Tanja Preißer is satisfied.
