When two people argue, the sellers are happy: In “Cash for Rares”, two dealers really wanted to buy a 200-year-old ring – and hyped each other up.

“That’s great,” says Horst Lichter. Heide-Rezepa-Zabel is similarly enthusiastic. She is “flashed” by the ring that Andrea Weichert and Wolfgang Schierhölter brought with them.“Cash for Rares”. The siblings from Gelsenkirchen and Velbert inherited it from their mother and would like to sell it in the junk show.

The expert can no longer contain her excitement about the ring set with diamonds; she particularly highlights the historical cut with 24 facets. The aim is to further enhance the shimmer of the diamond as a rose cut, explains Rezepa-Zabel. It dates its creation to the period between 1815 and 1830.

“Cash for Rares”: The sellers can hardly believe it

She would like 500 euros for the ring, says Andrea Weichert a little bashfully. She would have every reason for a much more aggressive desired price: the expert estimates the value at 3,400 to 4,400 euros. The sellers can hardly believe their luck and Schierhölter has to hug his sister first.

The ring also shines in the dealer’s room: When Susanne Steiger sees the piece of jewelry, her eyes shine. “And it was over for her,” Leo Leo comments on the scene. Wolfgang Pauritsch hasn’t missed the diamond splendor either; he starts with 1,000 euros “to get the ball rolling.” Initially, several dealers take part in the auction, but in the end it becomes a thrilling bidding duel between Pauritsch and Steiger. “At some point they have to stop bidding,” groans the Austrian at 2,800 euros. But he is wrong: his colleague finally wins the contract for 3,000 euros.

The siblings are overjoyed: “We got more for our ring than we thought.”
