Carnival in Veitshöchheim: Aiwanger has to take it – and Söder laughs – Bavaria

The subtle, sometimes poisonous ridicule at the ceremonial meeting in Veitshöchheim particularly affected the Bavarian Deputy Prime Minister. He’s obviously having a hard time dealing with it.

Does he have fantasies about being a Reich Chancellor? Or why did Markus Söder dress up as Otto von Bismarck? “I like herrings,” he replies dryly. And in fact, Martin Rassau and Volker Heißmann in their roles as widows Waltraud and Mariechen will put a copy on his table in the show. They brought a kipper with Hubert Aiwanger, which they think describes the matter well, symbolically. As is well known, kippers are also herrings, but they are brown smoked and have a strong smell.
