Great bad luck for the Cologne virgin: on the day before Shrove Monday, of all days, she has to undergo an operation in the hospital.

The Cologne The triumvirate is reduced to a duo for the remaining carnival days: Virgin Frieda has to have an operation on her hip joint on Sunday and therefore cannot take part in the Rose Monday procession. The doctors had prescribed Frieda – who is actually a Friedrich – absolute bed rest, the Cologne Carnival festival committee announced on Saturday. Prince Sascha I and Farmer Werner would perform alone for the rest of the session.

It was said that Friedrich Klupsch, who embodies the Virgin this carnival season, had been struggling with a stubborn muscle fiber tear in his pelvic area for a few weeks now. In addition, there is now an infection in the hip joint that needs to be treated urgently. “Of course I would have liked to cheer for the Cologne Jecken on Rose Monday together with my son and brother,” said the virgin. “This is the absolute highlight of the session for every triumvirate.” Unfortunately, the operation cannot be postponed. “I wish the Cologne Jecken a lot of fun and hope that their Alaaf will be so loud that I will hear it in the hospital.”

For the first time this year, all members of the triumvirate come from the same family: Prince Sascha is the son of Virgin Frieda, who is the brother of Farmer Werner. Everyone’s last name is Klupsch. In the past five weeks, the triumvirate has completed more than 400 appointments.
