Carl Amery Prize for Judith Schalansky – Munich

The writer Judith Schalansky will receive the Carl Amery Literature Prize this year. The prize, endowed with 6000 euros and awarded every two years by the Association of German Writers in Bavaria, is intended to commemorate the Munich writer and environmental activist Carl Amery and his life’s work. According to the jury, Schalansky proves to be a “deeply ecologically interested author in the spirit of Carl Amerys, not only in her books but also as the editor and designer of the “Naturkunden” series, who nature writing secures a permanent place in German-language literature”. The award ceremony will take place on April 9, the 100th birthday of Amery, in the Literaturhaus Munich.
