caregivers received at the Elysée in the midst of a service crisis

A little over a week after the publication of an open letter to Emmanuel Macron signed by 7,000 caregivers and denouncing “irresponsible political inaction”, the Pediatrics Collective was received on Wednesday by an adviser to the Head of State at the Elysium.

“Today, dozens of children are hospitalized in emergency boxes, are transferred several hundred kilometers from their homes, caregivers come home every day with the impression of having done their job badly”, explained Mélodie Aubart, neuropediatrician at the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital.

Early bronchiolitis epidemic disrupts services

Since the beginning of October, the emergency and pediatric intensive care units of hospitals across the country have been saturated, in particular due to an epidemic of early bronchiolitis. But she “is only the tip of the iceberg”, according to Mélodie Aubart.

“The public authorities must understand that today, in France, children are poorly cared for, for lack of means, lack of caregivers and lack of a health policy worthy of the name”, explains Isabelle Desguerre, head of the Pediatric Department at Necker Hospital.

The Minister of Health François Braun announced the release of 150 million euros for “the services in tension of the hospital” and receives a delegation of caregivers this Wednesday.
