This weekend, it heated up, it jostled, it screamed, exploded, cried, denounced and tweeted (well, tried). Back in a few lines on the eventful news of these forty-eight hours…
1. L’Haÿ-les-Roses sounded after the ram attack
The violence that has ignited French nights since Nahel’s death almost took a dramatic turn on Saturday evening in L’Haÿ-les-Roses. In this town of Val-de-Marne, individuals gathered to denounce the death of the teenager, killed by a policeman during a traffic check, attacked the mayor’s house where his wife and young children were, who have been hurt. An investigation has been opened for attempted murder, said the public prosecutor. According to the magistrate, the first elements of the investigation suggest that the car was launched at full speed to set fire to the house. Mayor Vincent Jeanbrun (LR), who publicly revealed these facts, received the support of many politicians, who all denounce a despicable act.

2. Yevgeny Prigojine “lost the ball”
Russian state television on Sunday accused Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin of going off the rails after receiving billions in public money, illustrating the new narrative of power over the paramilitary group since its abortive mutiny. “Prigojine lost his mind over large sums of money,” said Dmitri Kissiliov, one of the main voices of the Kremlin media apparatus, during his weekly program. To illustrate this supposed delusion of grandeur of Prigozhin, the presenter assured, without providing evidence, that the military company Wagner had received 858 billion rubles (8.8 billion euros) of public money.

3. Holland, “the icing on the cake” but not “the core”
“Stand up the socialists” organized this weekend in Lyon, on the initiative of Hélène Geoffroy, mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, round tables. On the program: “combat populism”, “respond to democratic crises” and “fight against inequalities”. And to discuss these subjects, Bernard Cazeneuve, Olivier Faure and François Hollande answered the call of the socialist mayor. If for some PS activists, François Hollande was “the icing on the cake” of this meeting, the former President recalled that he did not want to be “the core”. 4. The monstrous Victor Lafay

Last year, we had to wait for the 19th stage to see Christophe Laporte win the first and only tricolor success. On Sunday, a relaxed 27-year-old Lyonnais delivered the nation from the second day. And how ! Present at the front in a group of around twenty runners – only top names – the man with the goatee jumped out to do the “kilometer shot”, beating the favorites and the yellow jersey Adam Yates at the post.

5. The star Serge Vieira died
A cooking lover is gone. The two-starred chef Serge Vieira, based in Cantal, died on Saturday following a long illness, announced the Twitter account of the Bocuse d’Or, a competition he won in 2005, and his relatives. Aged 46, he had chaired the French Bocuse d’Or team for several years, a sort of World Cup for chefs.
