Car market in the EU – new car registrations fall by 15.4 percent – economy

The European car market continues to stutter in the face of a lack of delivery parts. Last month, 886,510 vehicles were registered in the EU in June, the lowest number since 1996, according to the industry association Acea on Friday. The minus compared to the same month last year was 15.4 percent. In the first half of the year, the number of newly registered cars in the EU fell by 14 percent to around 4.6 million. In terms of brands, the VW Group recorded a drop of more than a fifth in June. The rival Stellantis (Fiat, Peugeot) accounted for 17 percent fewer new registrations. Renault remained stable. BMW drove a decline of 10.5 percent in the core brand. Competitor Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, increased sales by 7.5 percent for the brand with the star.
