Notice to street art lovers, the Hôtel de Ville de Paris is unveiling its new free event exhibition, named: Capitale(s): 60 years of urban art in Paris. An exceptional exhibition, to be discovered from October 15, 2022 to February 11, 2023, and which invites us to discover the works of more than 70 artists ranging from Banksy to Miss Tic, via Invider, Swoom, André or even Seth.

The street art exhibitions are multiplying in Paris, for our greatest pleasure. After the Tuileries Tunnel transformed into an open gallery, Urban Week at La Défense and the crazy exhibition by Jef Aérosol which is worth a detour, now the Paris City Hall unveils its new event exhibition, named: Capital(s): 60 years of urban art in Paris.

From October 15, 2022 to February 11, 2023, a large-scale exhibition is offered to us in the Salle Saint-Jean de l’Paris City Hall. Imagine an exhibition that includes the works of more than 70 street-artists famous and less known: Miss Tic, bando, Futura, Andrew, Banksy, invade, Swoon

This exhibition is intended free to pay tribute to this popular art, accessible and offered to all. You should know that the primary desire of the exhibition curators was to show that the works of street artists deserved their place in museums. For this exhibition, they had to meet challenges, push the limits and possible the impossible.

We begin the exhibition with history, archives, documentation and loans. Where does Parisian street art come from, what materials are used, what are the messages and the consequences.

I have to say that urban art embodies the freedom of expression for decades and allows a renewed awareness of major societal issues. If this movement has found its full recognition in the pen of journalists and in its reception in museum collections, urban art does indeed have its origins in the street and continues to express itself there on walls and other supports. urban.

Once down the stairs, several large spaces in a row open up to us. Different rooms and alcoves allow us total immersion in the urban or creative universe. Wherever you go or stroll, art hides in every corner. Raise your eyes, turn around the sections of walls and invest the various installations which open to you.

Paris played an essential role in the emergence of this movement which is too often reduced to its North American origins. Through this beautiful exhibition, the City of Paris also highlights the new artists who perpetuate its vitality in the public space.
