Cannabis legalization: This is how a group of stoners celebrated at the giant bong

Cannabis has been legal in the Federal Republic of Germany since April 1st. Adults are now allowed to have up to 25 grams with them, and at home the amount is up to 50 grams. You can smoke weed in public, but only to a limited extent. It remains prohibited in pedestrian zones during the day when there are children and young people or within sight of playgrounds, kindergartens and schools. There is a 100 meter perimeter.

There was a lot of criticism of the law. The reasons for resistance to release were varied. The police and judiciary fear overload because thousands of cases of cannabis possession have to be processed retroactively, which are no longer punishable. In addition, the zones prohibited for smoking weed are difficult to control, say the police.

Cannabis legalization is met with criticism

Other criticism is more fundamental. She is offended by the fact that a drug like cannabis is even allowed. Many critics fear damage to the health of the population. Consumption can cause psychological problems, especially in young people who smoke too much.

From the perspective of the traffic light coalition (and all stoners), however, the law makes sense: the black market should be weakened and health protection increased because there should be more clean grass from so-called hemp clubs in the future. Large parts of the population smoke weed anyway. But the main purpose of legalization is to greatly reduce the burden on the police and judiciary, which is no longer burdened with thousands of petty cases.
