On February 2nd, the servants received their salaries, the Christmas trees were disposed of, and there was even a vacation around this important holiday. In some places the tradition has persisted – in its own way.
The editorial teams of South German newspaper had received a circular email on that Tuesday afternoon with the page allocation for the next issue. On this day, however, there was a remarkable note on the letter that seemed to have fallen out of time. The page header didn’t say “Plan for Wednesday” as usual, but rather “Plan for Candlemas”.
