Charming, proud and with a wink – Sonya Kraus, who recently made her breast cancer disease public, now showed on Instagram why she currently likes to wear wigs.

Sonya Kraus is a phenomenon: in the early 2000s, the extroverted blonde was the dream woman par excellence for Germans, be it as the lasciviously ironic moderator of the show “Talk Talk Talk” or as a do-it-yourselfer in hot pants in “Do It Yourself – SOS”. Kraus, a trained ballerina and former model, always seemed to have a sane view of her career and an adoration for her looks, always being refreshingly self-deprecating and down-to-earth. But for almost all women it is difficult to deal with the well-known social pressure when their appearance changes at some point.

For most women, this inevitably happens at some point with aging. Where men appear more mature and attractive with the first gray strands, it is still frowned upon for women to allow the signs of age to appear. In the case of Sonya Kraus, however, the years since 2000 seem to have passed without a trace. In her current acting role as the school principal in the Joyn series “Das Internat” she looks as dashing as ever. But her breast cancer also requires the 48-year-old to deal with new physical conditions. And she does it with her own nonchalance.

Sonya Kraus talks about her cancer

After having to have her breasts amputated to fight breast cancer, Sonya Kraus is currently undergoing chemotherapy. As a result, her hair began to fall out – and that where her blonde mane was always her trademark. Even if she appears brave on the outside, one can imagine that, no matter how lucky she is about the success of the treatment, such “little things” can still cause insecurity or self-doubt. But the presenter takes her role as a public figure seriously. She shows on Instagram how open and relaxed one can deal with such a situation and encourages many other affected people.

In a video on Instagram, Kraus reports how satisfied she is with wearing wigs. She has a choice as to whether she wants to wear her hair the way she always has (“looks just like my natural hair – only much better”), or something completely different. “Cher, Benoncé, Sophia Loren and so many other stars do it,” she clarifies. Wearing a wig doesn’t have to be a shameful fate, it can also be fun. Kraus also briefly showed her partially bald hair in the Insta video – on further reminder that one should never be ashamed of one’s appearance, especially when it is caused by an illness.

How strong, proud and charming Sonya Kraus deals with her current situation is really admirable. All the more because she still finds the strength to demonstrate with a wink to the outside world that you can deal with any challenge and that you are at your most beautiful when beauty is not the most important thing.
