Do love stories always end badly? Probably not but they can take different paths judging what is planned for the 2022 edition
Strasbourg my love. Canceled last year due to the health crisis, the operation is back but in a reduced version. The announcement was made on Monday during the municipal council during which the subsidy of 38,000 euros granted to the tourist office which is the promoter was voted.
This time, in the city where love lasted 10 days, the event will be held over five days only, halved like the amount of the grant. An operation which nevertheless remains firmly rooted in the lives of Strasbourg residents and tourists but which “comes for this tenth year at the end of a cycle” explained Guillaume Libsig, deputy mayor in charge of urban animation and event policy. An elected official who knows the issue well, having participated in the past as a hotelier, artist and now as an elected official. “It will be a transition edition explained the chosen one. If the passion lasts seven years, an event cycle lasts three years. We are at the end of the third cycle, it is time to make it pass in a new approach, a new dynamic ”assures the elected official.
A different format, but the heart still beats
The operation, whose objective reaffirms the city is to “create an appointment and generate economic benefits over a period recognized as the weakest in terms of tourist activity”, will therefore reduce its sails. Explained by a health situation deemed still fragile, but also the “loss of resources usually financed by socio-professionals”. It will therefore be a different format with around thirty events and a program which “will capitalize on a scenographic component allowing to maintain the exceptional notoriety acquired on social networks” explained the city.
Concretely, the red thread of the event is called “Lovers of public benches”. No Magic Mirror on Place Kléber, nor official programming, but an “original animation” that will criss-cross the most romantic and emblematic places in the city. An XXL bench and a symbolic staging will allow lovers to be photographed by a professional, different every day. In total, around thirty events, such as an introduction to modelling, guided tours, meetings, a concert, a convivial walk… Enough to make the heart of the city beat again from February 10th.
