In the language of the northern European aborigines, there are many words for reindeer, depending on their size, age, coat color and sex. You can find out in a lecture at the Richard With, which is heading north from Bergen. One would like to know how many words the Sami have for the color grey. Because in the cold season, the landscape of the north is often a study in gray and white: gray the sea contrasting with the snow-capped coastal mountains, trees and scrub like pencil drawings, the granite-colored rock hatched by ice and snow. The wind drives horizontal icy sleet past the windows.
