Why wander into the distance when the good is so close? Three German islands made it into the top 10 in a current ranking by the Paul Camper portal, namely the Baltic Sea islands of Rügen, Usedom and Fehmarn.
The top three best islands for campers
Krk in Croatia opens the top three. The island on the Adriatic offers a colorful mix of culture, nature and relaxation. Prices are also reasonable. And the temperatures are more moderate than further south in the country.
If you don’t like it so hot in summer, you’ll find the right island in the neighboring country of the Netherlands. The North Sea island of Schouwen-Duiveland comes in second place. It’s a little more expensive there, but the location is ideal for anyone who doesn’t just want to laze around, but also enjoys culture. A day trip to Rotterdam and Antwerp is recommended.
Corsica is the number one destination in Europe for campers
But number one is Corsica – especially for sun worshipers and culture enthusiasts. In summer, an average of around twelve hours of sunshine can be expected every day. The island is also rich in attractions. The selection of campsites is also huge.
Surprisingly, the popular holiday islands of Sicily and Sardinia fare comparatively poorly and only land in the middle field. This is due, among other things, to the price. When it comes to the best Balearic island for campers, Ibiza is ahead of Mallorca, although the choice of sites is limited.
