New origami heart world record in front of Angkor Wat

Actually, the goal was to produce one million paper hearts. But so many people took part in the campaign that it was exceeded by far.
Millions of paper hearts in front of the famous Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia: With this campaign, the Southeast Asian country made it into the Guinness Book of Records. A total of 3,917,805 hearts were folded and set up in origami style, the judges confirmed. The country has thus clearly surpassed the previous record from 2019: At that time, 53,704 origami hearts were folded in Great Britain.
British Ambassador to Cambodia Dominic Williams wrote on social media that in his capacity he should probably regret that his country lost the world origami crown. “But Cambodia didn’t just pass us, it rose into the stratosphere.” In front of the world-famous temple complex from the Khmer kingdom, the little hearts in all the colors of the rainbow made a spectacular picture.
In Cambodia, the goal was initially to produce one million hearts. However, so many residents from all parts of the country took part that almost four million items were ultimately submitted, according to the Guinness Book website. The participants were between 4 and 80 years old, wrote the newspaper “Phnom Penh Post”. The record was officially set on Tuesday.
