Call for donations after a violent fire at the Restos du Cœur

A fire ravaged a building of the Maison de la solidarité, in the Keryado district, in Lorient (Morbihan). Occurring on the night of Monday 24 to Tuesday 25 April, the fire caused significant damage to one of the adjoining buildings. Three trucks that belonged to Restos du Coeur, Solidarité Lorient and the city’s social grocery store were notably destroyed by the flames. Part of the food reserves of Restos du Coeur also disappeared in the fire. A complaint was filed and a judicial inquiry was opened to try to determine the causes of the accident.

The activity was able to continue on the spot but the three associations suffered major losses, particularly in terms of logistics. The Restos du Coeur have launched a call for donations to “replenish a stock of goods”, specifies the city of Lorient, who went to the scene of the disaster on Tuesday. People likely to help the association can contact 02 97 21 72 40 or send an email to [email protected].
