Norbert Treuheit dared to found a publisher in the Franconian province. His life project, a complete edition of Shakespeare, was threatened by existential crises and fire disasters. But now he has reached his goal.

The 39th volume of the complete Shakespeare edition has just been published by the small Franconian publisher “ars vivendi” – the conclusion of 22 years of work that has been celebrated by the professional world as the authoritative German translation of the playwright since the Romantic era. You could say that the life’s work of the Cadolzburg publisher Norbert Treuheit, 65, is joyfully completed. But there were also strokes of fate.
