BVB worries about Süle – replaced in Mainz
Terzic update at Nmecha and Adeyemi

The BVB Cup game in Mainz was only 28 minutes old when central defender Niklas Süle clutched his back with a pained face. A few moments later came the signal for substitution. It is unclear whether and for how long Süle will be out. “He got a push and then felt pain. We wanted to be on the safe side. Niki said he had it a lot more often and was fine again after two or three days,” said coach Edin Terzic at the press conference after the 6-1 win.
BVB cold start for Nico Schlotterbeck
That meant a cold start for Nico Schlotterbeck, who had only returned to training at the beginning of the week after bruising his knee – and a few moments later had to watch TSV Schott Mainz score the interim goal.
Even before the game kicked off, Terzic gave an update on the ailing Karim Adeyemi (muscular problems) and Felix Nmecha (ankle problems) on the Sky microphone. “We are very confident that Karim will be available for the start of the Bundesliga. We’ll have to wait and see about Felix, but he should start training again in the course of the week.” The Black and Yellows start the new season next Saturday with the top game against 1. FC Köln.
