65 million savings possible
Borussia Dortmund beckons a major upheaval in the coming summer: Eight contracts are expiring, and it is still unclear how things will continue for at least four of these players. The following year, 13 contracts ended – at best six players from both groups should leave the club at the end of the season, reports “Sport Bild”. If this succeeds, savings of up to 65 million euros can be achieved, according to the magazine. Combined with a fee of well over 100 million euros for midfield star Jude Bellingham (19), sports director Sebastian Kehl would have plenty of room for maneuver to give the squad a different face.

High salaries, hardly any market: what’s next for BVB, Can, Hazard & Schulz?
From the group of players who could switch free of charge in 2024, Nico Schulz (29), Emre Can (29) and Thorgan Hazard (29), each with salaries totaling around 20 million euros, are still the preferred candidates for a departure. However, it is still difficult to find a suitable market for the professionals. If Moukoko decides against an extension, it would come through him alone 30 million euros more.
On the access side, a left and right defender and a defensive midfielder are on the wish list – with Julian Ryerson (25), whose transfer was confirmed after the “Sport Bild” editorial deadline, this position may already be covered.
