BVB professional Sébastien Haller will not be able to play for several months, but the most important thing is that the operation on the striker, who is suffering from a testicular tumor, went well according to his club.

BVB and his professional Sébastien Haller breathe a sigh of relief. The footballer suffering from a testicular tumor has had an operation. This was confirmed by his club Borussia Dortmund. “The operation went very, very well and he is on the right track,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl in a video interview with Dortmund’s shirt sponsor “1&1” published on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old ex-Frankfurter Haller switched from Ajax Amsterdam back to the Bundesliga for BVB in the summer. “He was super stable and incredibly positive and also said to the team: ‘Do your job, give everything. Make sure that when I come back we’re still in the running.’ And the boys will do that too,” said Kehl.

Sébastien Haller will be absent from BVB for a few months

Soccer professional Yeray Álvarez, who has been treated twice for a testicular tumor, recommended Haller to remain calm and patient. “I would advise him to put football and everything else aside and concentrate on family and friends. That’s how I did it,” said the 27-year-old Athletic Bilbao player in an interview with “Sport Bild”. “They will give him the strength he needs, on top of what he gets from the fans and his football peers.”

In December 2016, Álvarez was first diagnosed with a tumor on his testicles. He also underwent surgery and did not require chemotherapy. In early February he made his comeback. But in June 2017, another tumor was diagnosed. Álvarez had to undergo chemotherapy and only returned to the pitch months later.

BVB sports director Kehl expected according to “Bild-Zeitung”that Haller will only be back on the pitch “in a few months”.
