Darwin Nunez is also apparently a topic at BVB as a possible Haaland successor. However, a first offer is said to have been rejected.

BVB is said to have made an offer for Darwin Nunez. This is reported by the Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida. Accordingly, this was rejected by Benfica. Discussions would still continue.

Concrete figures are not given, but the Portuguese’s expectations are likely to be beyond what Borussia Dortmund can and wants to pay. “As for the numbers, as a Benfica supporter I hope it will be a sum close to what was paid for Joao Felix,” manager Nelson Verissimo said during a press conference in early April.

Felix moved to Atletico Madrid from Lisbon in the Spanish capital in 2019 for around 130 million euros. Nunez has 33 goals and four assists in 38 competitive games this season. The 22-year-old is accordingly on the wish list in half of Europe.

Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Atletico, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have recently been linked to the Uruguayan.

BVB: Adeyemi and Schlotterbeck should come – also Nunez?

So now BVB too. Dortmund are looking for a replacement for Erling Haaland, who is likely to leave the club in the summer. According to various media reports, an agreement with Manchester City is imminent. The Norwegian would flush 75 million euros into the black and yellow coffers because of an exit clause.

The money will probably be used to finance Nico Schlotterbeck from SC Freiburg and Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg. Both would probably cost well over 50 million euros together. Both are said to have already decided to move to Dortmund.

It is highly questionable whether BVB would then still have the wherewithal to make a transfer of the magnitude of Nunez. The attacker’s contract with Benfica runs until 2025.
