BVB: Niklas Süle defends himself against Bayern allegations – “If I had been lazy…” – Bundesliga

He wants to show his critics!

Ex-Bayern star Niklas Süle (26/moved to BVB on a free transfer in the summer) gave the Dortmund member magazine his first interview as Borussia. And spoke, among other things, about an accusation that was made against him in Munich at the time.

“IF I HAD BEEN LAZY…”

When Süle switched from Hoffenheim to Bayern in 2017, he was advised to adopt a better lifestyle. The background was his high weight. The discussion came up again when Süle tore his cruciate ligament in October 2019. Again and again his critics emphasized that he was not the most diligent. The BVB newcomer is now cleaning up!

In an interview with BVB magazine, Süle now said: “If I had been lazy, I would never have reached the Champions League final after such a serious injury.”

What happened?

Süle came on in the 25th minute for the injured Jérôme Boateng (33) in the 2020 premier class final and made his contribution to Bayern being able to win the trophy against Paris Saint-Germain (1-0). Süle had not played a competitive game for months.

Süle continues: “The people who bring this into the world only ever see Niklas Süle, who honestly admits that he likes a burger or drinks a beer. Yes and? Do you think other pros don’t do that? They just don’t talk about it.”

In the same interview, Süle emphasized how much he is looking forward to his new task at Schwarz-Gelb: “There is no more emotional stadium in the whole world. I can’t wait to be part of this club.”

Süle continues: “In my career, despite all my sporting successes, I was not always respected as I think I deserve. In the talks with BVB, this respect was shown to me immediately and very credibly.”
