Marin Pongracic demands a bonus payment from his regular club for reaching the Champions League. The case should go to the District Court.

After Marin Pongracic railed against VfL Wolfsburg in an interview with the comedian SSYNIC on the Twitch streaming platform in November, there was renewed excitement about the BVB loan: Pongracic is suing his regular club in the course of a dispute over a Champions League premium.

The 24-year-old Croatian demands a bonus from Wolfsburg for reaching the Champions League last season. It’s about 250,000 euros. The case is scheduled to go before the district court in Braunschweig at the beginning of March.

“From our understanding of the law, the situation is clear,” said VfL manager Jörg Schmadtke sports buzzer. The Wolfsburg are probably insisting that Pongracic has lost the right to this bonus with the suspension of his contract with VfL.

BVB: Pongracic blurted out the contents of the contract

The central defender is on loan for Borussia Dortmund this season. BVB will not exercise the agreed purchase option, but in all likelihood Pongracic will not go further at Wolfsburg. His contract runs until 2024.

In November, he revealed the content of the contract in a Twitch stream and said in the direction of Wolfsburg: “It sucks a bit for them too. If I go through the roof here now, everyone in Wolfsburg will say: ‘What have you done here, who did you let go here?’ That makes me extremely happy.”
