Something was observed in London on Tuesday that seemed stranger than a vampire at a blood drive: Dortmund fans also had blue and white jewelry on their necks. On closer inspection, it was a so-called “half-and-half-scarf”, a souvenir for that Champions League game that took place at Stamford Bridge that evening, and this scarf was 50:50 in the colors of the Opponents designed: with the black and yellow of Borussia – and the club colors of the host FC Chelsea. The necklace was irritating because it was so reminiscent of the royal blue of FC Schalke 04, which was traditionally frowned upon by Dortmunders. But, as you could learn at the end of the Champions League game, Dortmund’s aversion to their neighbors from Gelsenkirchen remained intact: “We want the derby win/we want the derby win/we want, we we want/we want the derby win,” rang out the Shed End, the sector of Stamford Bridge where the visiting fans were housed.
