The BVB newcomer will not be in the starting eleven today. That’s not enough for the Englishman. The Ruhrpott club doesn’t want to burn out Sancho, who hasn’t played in a competitive game for months.

“We have to be careful not to risk injury,” said coach Edin Terzic at the matchday press conference on Friday (January 12). However, it is possible to use the game for 20 or even 30 minutes.

BVB against Darmstadt: Jadon Sancho is there immediately

Update, Friday (January 12th), 2:13 p.m.: As BVB coach Edin Terzic just announced at the press conference, Jadon Sancho will be in the squad against SV Darmstadt on Saturday. However, a place in the starting lineup is unlikely.

“Now it’s just a matter of wanting to use him immediately with this euphoria, but of course doing the whole thing very carefully, because what we can’t afford now is that we rush him through too early and he misses training sessions or games because of one stupid injury,” explained the Dortmund coach.

BVB against Darmstadt: Borussia Dortmund has major personnel concerns

+++ Hello and welcome to the live ticker of the Bundesliga game between SV Darmstadt and Borussia Dortmund. The game will kick off on Saturday (January 13th) at 6:30 p.m. in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor. +++

Dortmund/Darmstadt – The winter break is over and the ball is finally rolling again in the Bundesliga! The last game of the first half of the season awaits BVB there. Coach Edin Terzic’s team is traveling to the newly promoted team from Darmstadt. The Revierklub is under pressure in the top game against the “Lilien” and is also plagued by major personnel concerns.

BVB against Darmstadt: Edin Terzic has to improvise on the defensive wing

The left full-back position in particular is currently struggling at BVB. Julian Ryerson suffered an medial ligament injury in his knee shortly before the turn of the year and will be missing from Dortmund in Darmstadt. Likewise Ramy Bensebaini, who is with the Algerian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations.

With U23 player Guille Bueno, who was injured in the BVB training camp, another option is no longer available. Edin Terzic will therefore have to improvise a bit here on Saturday, as Marius Wolf was also recently laid up with a respiratory infection.

BVB against Darmstadt: Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha are still out

BVB also recently had to digest a bit of shocking news for the midfield. Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha will be out for several more weeks. In addition, captain Emre Can had to slow down a bit at the beginning of the week because he felt a muscle reaction after the BVB friendly against AZ Alkmaar (2:2).

Marco Reus left the training camp in Marbella early on Tuesday (January 9th) because he became a father for the second time. However, those responsible strongly assume that he will be available on Saturday.

BVB against Darmstadt: Sebastien Haller is at the Africa Cup

In attack, Borussia Dortmund is also one option poorer thanks to Sebastien Haller’s participation in the Africa Cup. Niclas Füllkrug also returned from Marbella with a limp. But they are optimistic that he will be 100 percent fit again by Saturday.

Despite all the adversities, BVB is doomed to win against the “Lilien”, who are currently at the bottom of the table with ten points. In the coming weeks the main aim will be to reduce the six-point gap to the Champions League places. New arrivals Jadon Sancho and Ian Maatsen may already be helping in Darmstadt.
