FC Barcelona have put out feelers to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves. The 25-year-old is set to follow in Sergio Busquet’s footsteps.

Like the Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports that there have already been talks with Neves’ advisor Jorge Mendes. Mendes is keen to place his client with the Catalans. The Portuguese’s contract in Wolverhampton is dated until 2024.

Barça originally targeted Martin Zubimendi to succeed Busquets, now 34, whose contract expires next summer. However, Zubimendi recently decided to extend his contract at Real Sociedad.

The English SundayMirror had announced two weeks ago that Barcelona wanted to sign Neves in exchange for one or two unnamed youth players. However, Wolverhampton are demanding a transfer fee of almost 60 million euros. Barça is Neves’ dream club. In addition, the midfielder does not want to extend his contract with Wolves.

Neves moved from FC Porto to Molineux Stadium in 2017 for 17.9 million euros. Since then, the right-footed player has made 221 competitive appearances for Wolverhampton, scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists.
