Bushido announced his new album “Rex in aeternum” for February 9th. Now it will probably be published later and with a new name.

There was no getting around him in 2024 Bushido (45) already made it clear last fall. After eight long years he will return to the concert stages with a large-scale “King Forever!” tour. His fans can also look forward to the imminent release of a new album entitled “Rex in aeternum” (Latin for “King Forever”), which will be released on February 9th.

While tickets for the “King of German Rap”‘s officially last tour are selling well and numerous additional dates have been announced, there seems to be a bit of a problem with the release of the album. The star rapper has apparently postponed the release of the album for unknown reasons and also decided on a different album title.

Latin album title too complicated for Bushido fans?

In his podcast “ELECTRO GHETTO”, which he does with YouTuber Marvin California, he let it be known on January 21st: “I’m definitely going to rename the album. ‘Rex in aeternum’ definitely sounds cool and mystical, but I think ‘King Forever’ is a bit easier for German-speaking fans.” He also announced that he would not be releasing the album on February 9th as previously planned. He will announce a new release date – but that hasn’t happened yet.

Is “King Forever” not coming until April?

The musician gave more detailed information about a new release date on February 2nd in an interview with the “Neue Westfälische”, which is not exactly known as a rap magazine. But here too he remained vague and only revealed: “The album will be released towards the middle/end of the tour.” Since his tour extends from March 21st to April 30th, the work is not expected to be released until April.

In the same interview, Bushido also suggested that there could be primarily private reasons behind the postponed album release. He reported on his current living conditions: “I haven’t been on tour for eight years and unfortunately due to certain circumstances I’ve only been able to spend very little time with music. Now I’ve emigrated to Dubai with my wife and our eight children. There’s always more things that come to the foreground. The opportunities to make music are becoming more and more rare.”

Court feud with clan boss Abou-Chaker Reason for postponement?

One of the things that is “coming to the fore” is likely to be his legal disputes with the Berlin clan boss Arafat Abou-Chaker (47), which have been going on for years. The trial, which has been ongoing since August 2020, concerned Bushido’s allegations of deprivation of liberty, predatory extortion and grievous bodily harm against his former manager. On February 5th – four days before the originally announced release date of the new album – the court feud came to a temporary end with acquittals for Abou-Chaker on almost all counts.
