The quick-witted intervention of a 77-year-old in a coach prevented a serious traffic accident on the A7 motorway near Memmingen in Bavaria. The 43-year-old bus driver had lost consciousness while driving after a circulatory collapse, the police said on Monday. The coach with 32 passengers hit the right crash barrier and a temporary concrete wall in the accident on Sunday in the construction site area. The passenger bravely grabbed the steering wheel to prevent worse. None of the passengers were injured. The bus driver received medical treatment on site, a police spokeswoman said. The bus was able to continue later. The spokeswoman could not say who was behind the wheel. The police estimated the total damage at around 10,000 euros.
