Burchard Dabinnus: “The Mill History” in Hoch X – Munich

Tracing your own family history during the Nazi era can be as enlightening as it is shocking. Did your own grandfather have anything to do with the expropriation of a friendly Jewish family? In the 1920s, Georg Dabinnus, the grandfather of the Munich actor, director and broadcaster Burchard Dabinnus, lived as a German national bourgeois in East Prussia. In 1939 he bought a large mill in Bartoszyce, Poland. He took over the business of a family friend. The Jewish Meyer family was forced to sell. Hans Joseph Meyer and his wife Lotte later died in Auschwitz.
